northern california here in the bay area. frank with rainfall in the sierra picking up significant snowfall. yeah. so a reminder of winter with this system coming on board. it has been a nice weather stretch though this week. this was the scene looking above golden gate park, looking out toward ocean beach in san francisco and today we had temperatures. lots of 70s. look what happens tomorrow, saturday. rainfall, temperatures barely making it into the lower 60s for tomorrow. and in the sierra, this was from tahoe's west shore. from homewood you can see that snow melt starting. you can see right around the at the little tower there by the lift. they're going to pick up significant snowfall in the sierra. in fact, enough that they have upgraded this to a winter storm warning begins 11:00 saturday until 8 a.m. sunday, and snowfall potentially could be around 6 to 18in. the higher peaks could be topping 20in. so yeah, that's like not just not just a little bit of some snowfall. it'll be adding up for tomorrow. here's a satellite

this is nbc bay area news tonight. i'm audrey asistio. we'll get to those stories in just a moment, but we want to start with that breaking news we've been following. now i-80 shut down both directions for nearly three hours. the good news westbound lanes are starting to reopen. the bad news? eastbound and remains closed. take a look at this backup here. it's going to take a while, of course, to clear traffic had backed up for about 16 miles. this all started with a high speed chase and standoff in rohnert park in sonoma county. that's where a woman reported someone shot at her car while on 101. the chp says officers chased this driver through three counties. police eventually used spike strips to slow that car down, bringing it to a stop right there on i-80 in fairfield. chp has been negotiating. they have been negotiating with that driver since around 330. then about 30 minutes ago, officers broke into the vehicle. that standoff started at the end of a high speed chase. you can see here police breaking into that gray car. an ambulance w
